2015-2016 Players of the Year and All Americans

WINTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SERIES AT PINEHURST HONORS
2015-2016 PLAYERS of the YEAR AND ALL AMERICANS

The twenty-second annual Winternational Junior Series at Pinehurst concluded its season this weekend on the Pinehurst No. 3 Course. Nearly one hundred and twenty high school boys and girls were members during the 2015-2016 Season.  The Winternationals, an eight-tournament series, has been based in Pinehurst since its inception and conducts championships on all of the Pinehurst Championship layouts.  Competition was held in three separate divisions, Junior/Senior, Freshman/Sophomore and Girls.

In the Junior-Senior Division, Brantley Phillips of Greensboro, NC claimed Player of the Year (POY) honors for the second year in a row. Brantley, a senior at Page High School, had three wins and a runner-up finish to capture this year’s POY award.

Others from the Junior-Senior Division named All-Americans were; Nash Neptune (Pinehurst, NC), Trey Capps (Garner, NC), Justin Lewis (High Point, NC), and Ben Esposito (Pittsboro, NC)

In the Freshman/Sophomore Division, Kenan Poole, II lead the way much of the season with three wins and a runner-up similar to Phillips. Poole is a freshman at Ravenscroft School and will be eligible to defend his POY title in the division next year.

Others from the Freshman/Sophomore Division named All-Americans were; Matthew Hayes (Clayton, NC), Alex Huml (Cary, NC), Rob Salisbury (Winston-Salem, NC), Symon Balbin (Pinehurst, NC)

Meghan McPeak claimed the POY honors in the girls division with two wins and two top five finishes this year. McPeak was also named to the All-American Team for the 2015-2016 season. 

Ten high school boys and one girls were awarded All-American status because of their tournament results for the eight events.  The point system is based on the four highest point totals for each individual across the eight-event series.  The Winternational All-Americans and their hometown are:
