2017-2018 Players of the Year and All Americans

WINTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SERIES AT PINEHURST HONORS
2017-2018 PLAYERS of the YEAR AND ALL AMERICANS

The twenty-fourth annual Winternational Junior Series at Pinehurst concluded its season this weekend on the Pinehurst No. 1 Course. Over one hundred and thirty high school boys and girls were members during the 2018-2019 Season. The Winternationals, an eight-tournament series, has been based in Pinehurst since its inception and conducts championships on all of the Pinehurst Championship layouts. Competition was held in three separate divisions, Junior/Senior, Freshman/Sophomore and Girls. Only a player’s top four finishes count towards the POY honors in each age division.

In the Junior-Senior Division, Chase Clayton of Locust, NC claimed Player of the Year (POY) honors with his stellar play. The West Stanly School Junior captured three event titles and two top five finishes on the year.

Others from the Junior-Senior Division named All-Americans were; Jake Newman (Charlotte, NC), Davis Fisher (Greenville, NC), Owen Swavely (Mooresville, NC), and Andrew Wood (Greensboro, NC)

In the Freshman/Sophomore Division, Drew Van Dyke led the way much of the season with two wins and top 5 finishes in each of his 7 events played. Drew is an eighth grader out of Charlotte, NC.
Others from the Freshman/Sophomore Division named All-Americans were; Kunakorn Tang (Raleigh, NC), Chris Ha (Fayetteville, NC), Josh Newman (Charlotte, NC), Gene Zeigler (Florence, SC)

Mallory Fobes of East Bend, NC and Angelique Seymour of Fayetteville, NC were named Co-Players of the year in the girls division. Both players earn 380 points with three wins and runner-up each. Also earning All-American honors for the Girls was Victoria Ladd of Greensboro, NC.

Ten high school boys and three girls were awarded All-American status because of their tournament results for the eight events. The point system is based on the four highest point totals for each individual across the eight-event series. The Winternational All-Americans and their hometown are:
